چکیده

Standing inventory analysis allows a forester to predict the yield (volume by logtype) of a section of forest before the trees have been felled. Current standing inventory tools such as MARVL and ATLAS Cruiser predict yield. They do this by simulating the bucking that will take place when the trees are harvested. These tools produce a point estimate of the yield for given input data. In practice, when the trees are bucked at harvest, the harvesting crew can make different decisions than those predicted by the analysis. This paper presents a method of standing inventory analysis that seeks to characterise all possible yields for a section of forest.

Effect of National-Scale Afforestation on Forest Water Supply and Soil Loss in South Korea, 1971–2010

Afforestation of forests in South Korea may provide an example of the benefit of afforestation on precipitation storage and erosion control. In this study, we presented the effects of afforestation on water supply and soil loss prevention. A spatio-temporal simulation of forest water yield and soil loss was performed from 1971–2010 using InVEST water yield and SWAT models. A forest stock change...

TAUYIELD Projected Growth and Yield Data for Selected Management Intensity Classes

The South can increase pine productivity on its forest lands as increased timber prices make returns from intensified forest management more profitable. We determined the most likely management intensities on industrial lands resulting in five management intensity classes. They are used to estimate the potential growth and yield levels, and compare these to empirical pine yields, developed as a...

The uncertainty of forest management planning data in Finnish non-industrial private forestry

Knowledge about the growing stock and the cutting potentials of stands, as well as predictions of growth and yield, are essential aspects of forest management planning. Growth predictions are obtained using complex simulation systems, whose accuracy and precision are difficult to predict. The uncertainty of growth and yield predictions, as well as the uncertainty of the stand-level inventory da...

Mortality rates associated with crown health for eastern forest tree species.

The condition of tree crowns is an important indicator of tree and forest health. Crown conditions have been evaluated during inventories of the US Forest Service Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program since 1999. In this study, remeasured data from 55,013 trees on 2616 FIA plots in the eastern USA were used to assess the probability of survival among various tree species using the suite o...

Equivalence of live tree carbon stocks produced by three estimation approaches for forests of the western United States

The focus on forest carbon estimation accompanying the implementation of increased regulatory and reporting requirements is fostering the development of numerous tools and methods to facilitate carbon estimation. One such well-established mechanism is via the Forest Vegetation Simulator (FVS), a growth and yield modeling system used by public and private land managers and researchers, which pro...
